For sharing thoughts and ratings on the song.

Simple yet effective! The opening riff is basically just a straightforward chord progression, but it works and has a good peaceful, perhaps wistful feel to it, like the whole song. The chorus is brilliant, and the part with all the lighthouses, with its vocal harmonies, is the icing on the cake.

The guitar solo is also quite simple, built around arpeggios for a “classical” feel, which fits the overall atmosphere of the song surprisingly well. Maybe Roy took a little leap of faith there, but I think it paid off. Would be hard to imagine some other type of solo in the song, but that’s easy to say after listening to it for 25 and a half years.

Clearly one for the radio, this one. Should it have been the single? (Don’t know what difference that would have made though. The album’s a classic anyway…)
